Plans and billing¶

Billing is per tenant: all members share one subscription. Only the tenant Owner can see and change billing, under Configuration → Billing. Payments are processed by Stripe, and card details never reach Helena.

How the limits are counted:

Members includes pending invitations.
Tests counts across all of the tenant's environments.
Test runs, Test Log entries and API calls do not count toward any limit.

Some tenants have custom limits agreed with Helena. Your billing page shows the limits that apply to you.

When you reach a limit, Helena refuses to create anything more of that kind until you upgrade or delete something. Nothing that already exists is removed when you are over a limit.

Subscription status¶

Status	Meaning	Access
Trial	The free trial is running. A banner shows the days left.	✅
Grace period	The trial ended less than 7 days ago. Choose a plan to keep access.	✅
Active	A paid subscription is current.	✅
Cancelled	The subscription is cancelled but paid up. Access continues until the end of the billing period, then the tenant is locked.	✅
Checkout not completed	A plan was chosen at sign-up but payment wasn't finished.	❌
Locked	The trial and grace period are over, or the subscription has ended.	❌

When a tenant is locked or has checkout not completed:

The Owner is taken to the billing page (or back to checkout) to choose a plan.
Other members see a page asking them to contact the Owner.
Service accounts cannot authenticate (403 TENANT_INACTIVE), and scheduled tests stop running.
Nothing is deleted. Access returns as soon as a plan is active.

The billing page¶

From Configuration → Billing the Owner can:

Action	What happens
Choose a plan / Subscribe	Opens Stripe Checkout. The new plan's limits apply as soon as payment succeeds.
Change plan	Changes plan immediately. Stripe prorates the charge. The new limits apply straight away.
Cancel subscription	Cancels at the end of the current billing period. Access continues until then.
Resume subscription	Undoes a cancellation before the period ends.
Manage payment method	Opens the Stripe billing portal to update your card.
Invoice history	Lists past invoices with their amount, status and a PDF download.

Deleting the tenant cancels the subscription immediately. See Deleting the tenant.
